Cupping, though a more gentle approach than say deep tissue massage, it is a powerful therapy. When a cup is placed on your body the negative pressure sucks up the tissue, up to 4 inches vs the 2 inches my elbow can press down into the muscles because of the depth of its effect, cupping is among the best deep tissue myofascial therapies available. The sensation is different for everyone but to me it feels like a pull, burn or twisting sensation. Like all therapies there are sensitive areas but in general it is a gentle approach.
Cupping draws out old blood, cellular debris and other wastes from areas of injury and stagnation. Once the waste is drawn up to the skins surface the body can eliminate the toxins easily and rapidly. This stagnant blood causes the colored circles seen on people who get cupping. The “Cupping kiss” is not a bruise, it isn’t sensitive to the touch and it will not be a consistent color because it changes depending on levels of stagnation or injury. The color’s tell me what’s going on in that area and how to proceed. Once the stagnate blood and wastes leave the body, new healthy blood replaces it, so that the healing can begin. Cupping can be used for muscles, fascia, scar tissue, cellulite breakdown and more.
Every session will be different, every cup will bring out a different result because you change everyday. The more you receive cupping the less color will present itself until only health blood remains.
