WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Meet Harold (in picture right), This sweetie will help me demonstrate massage techniques and the do’s and don’ts of infant massage. Infant massage is a powerful bonding tool for all caregivers and because of this I do not massage your baby, I instruct you on how to safely and effectively massage your bundle of joy. Giving you the knowledge to continue your one on one time throughout your child’s life. I’ll show you the techniques on Harold while you practice them on your baby. In most sessions there is more then one caregiver present, in these cases one of you will be working on your baby and the other will be working on Harold’s twin (Walter), then half way through you switch. Everyone will get their turn and the repetition in class will help you recall the lessons in the comfort of your own home. I implore you to help me, help you, by taking some of the stress off yours and baby’s shoulders….literally.

*Disclaimer…The life like baby dolls I use for instruction were ridiculously expensive so please treat them like your own child. There names change at my whimsy.

WHY INFANT MASSAGE?

Infant massage is another tool for parents/families to sooth and bond with their children. Learn techniques and routines for common childhood discomforts such as; colic, sleepless nights, digestion, teething, sinus congestion, earaches and more. Massage aids in positive body image, flexibility, pain relief, anxiety/depression, immune function and helps with weight gain (Premature Infants).

The “Oh S**t, now what!?” moment. All the planning leading up to the birth of your baby doesn’t prepare you for when you are left alone for the first time, with your seemingly fragile bundle. New parents can become more comfortable with caring for their child through massage.

Touch is an important aspect for all humans and nurturing that sense becomes easy with the right tools. Massage can help them establish boundaries, helps them to respect others and their own bodies. It can help them find their voice later in life by understanding their bodies; where they are in relation to the world, what helps them relax, their likes and dislikes that help them vocalize more accurately. So hopefully when the hard hitting questions need to be asked, they have an open line of communication that has been fostered since birth.
